Your Moms & Babies application may take time to be reviewed. That’s why Illinois also offers Medical Presumptive Eligibility (MPE) coverage to pregnant people.
With MPE, you get immediate, temporary coverage and health care that you can use right away while your Moms & Babies application is reviewed. MPE has the same requirements (pregnancy and a certain yearly household income) as Moms & Babies. You can apply for MPE when you apply for Moms & Babies.
You can apply for Moms & Babies and MPE coverage online, on the phone, or in person.
To apply in person, book a health care visit with an MPE provider who can enroll you in Moms & Babies. If you qualify, MPE coverage will allow you to get health care services starting the day you submit your application.
